Bathroom Design for Mr & Mrs White

The Brief:

To transform an old bedroom and landing area into a luxurious bathroom.
To create a large room conducive to relaxation and pleasure.
To include the usual bathroom sanitary ware along with a bidet, steam/shower room, whirlpool bath and practical storage space.
To be the ultimate chill out zone after a tiring day.

Overcoming obstacles

Problem: The height of the steam room was too high for the low cottage ceiling.

Solution: The ceiling was raised into the loft and was re-boarded and plastered following the contours of the steam room.

Problem: The original location of the bathroom was the wrong size and shape for the interpretation of the client’s brief.

Solution: A major remodelling of the interior walls took place including concealed storage.

Problem: To create the atmospheric lighting, power the steam unit and whirlpool bath there was a need for a much larger electrical supply, as this area had previously been a bedroom.

Solution: Firstly, we increased the overall electrical supply to the area and then used a 4 way external dimmer switch to split the bathroom lighting into zones.
